In the contemporary realm of fine art, 'The Install Situation,' co-directed by Che Pai and I Chien Chen, delves into the behind-the-scenes intricacies, tracing the evolution of space within a gallery and the essence of art creation itself. This collaborative endeavor aims to showcase the process of handling, the supporting labor involved, and the residual imprints left behind.
Che’s artist book rendition of 'The Install Situation' captures visual elements from the exhibition, responsive performances, and the traces of weekly activations. By employing bodily configurations, the project foregrounds a visceral experience, inviting audiences to engage with the folding and unfolding aspects of artwork, space, and their evolution over time.

The Install Situation was initially an unconventional show at SITE gallery in Chicago. It’s an exhibition using performance and objects left behind to tap into the experience of art handling. My artist book rendition of 'The Install Situation' captures visual elements from the exhibition, responsive performances, and the traces of weekly activations. The book uses a folding and unfolding structure. By employing bodily configurations, the project foregrounds a visceral experience, inviting audiences to engage with the folding and unfolding aspects of artwork, space, and their evolution over time. This work is collected by the Art Institute of Chicago.
